AI Agent Engineer (Voice) New York, (Hybrid) Up to $300K + Equity My client is an early stage Y Combinator-backed AI Voice Agent start up with $7M in funding. They have scaled to ~$2.5M ARR in under 18 months and targeting $10M ARR by end of next year. AI agents already outperforming human collectors by 2X at a fraction of the cost — real product-market fit in a $35B US market. $200K–$300K salary plus 0.25%–1% equity. Meaningful ownership at a very early stage with massive upside. You'd own the entire voice AI infrastructure from scratch — building on LiveKit to power 10 million calls per month in production. Complete autonomy with no layers of management. Small team (8 people) means massive impact and direct access to the founder and CTO. Hybrid in NYC with flexibility on in-office days. We are looking for an AI Agent Engineer with 3-7 years of experience to build our entire voice AI infrastructure in-house on LiveKit. You'll own the end-to-end development of a voice orchestration framework powering 10 million calls per month for a YC-backed startup that's scaled to $2.5M ARR and targeting $10M within the next year. What will you be doing? Build the in-house voice orchestration framework on LiveKit from scratch Migrate all existing AI agents from the current voice provider to the new LiveKit-based system Own prompt engineering and conversation design for voice agents handling millions of consumer interactions Optimize real-time voice performance (latency, turn-taking, state management) at production scale Build testing and evaluation frameworks to continuously improve agent performance and business outcomes Requirements: 3 - 8 years of experience in voice AI infrastructure and backend engineering Built production voice AI systems at scale (e. g. LiveKit, similar voice frameworks) Built voice/agentic systems from scratch — ideally as founding engineer or at early- stage startup Experience at reputable voice AI companies Big Tech (Google, Meta, Roblox) OK if combined with startup or voice AI side projects CS degree or related technical field from a strong university Voice AI framework experience — LiveKit strongly preferred Node. js / JavaScript and AWS proficiency Prompt engineering and conversational flow design for voice agents Strong written communication — needed for prompt engineering and conversation design work Based in NYC — hybrid 3+ days/week in Flatiron office If this sounds like you apply today!
