About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled AI/NLP Engineer to join our dynamic Data Science team at Leo Technologies. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and state-of-the-art AI techniques to develop innovative solutions aimed at enhancing public safety and intelligence workflows. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and deploying scalable AI-powered features that facilitate real-time decision-making and operational insights. This individual contributor position emphasizes deep technical proficiency, experimentation, and hands-on engineering, offering an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI technologies such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), semantic search, GraphRAG, and Agentic AI. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field, complemented by over five years of practical experience in applied AI, NLP, or ML engineering. A minimum of two years of direct experience working with LLMs, RAG pipelines, semantic search, and Agentic AI is essential. Strong familiarity with leading LLMs such as OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini, along with expertise in prompt engineering and responsible deployment practices, is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience designing and optimizing RAG workflows, working with vector databases like ElasticSearch or Pinecone, and deploying AI models in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure. Proficiency in modern ML frameworks like PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers, LangChain, and LlamaIndex is necessary. Additionally, experience with MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, data pipelines, and API development using Python will be highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills are essential to thrive in our fast-paced, innovative environment. Responsibilities As an AI/NLP Engineer at Leo Technologies, your core responsibilities will include designing, building, and optimizing AI solutions utilizing LLMs, RAG pipelines, semantic search, and GraphRAG architectures. You will experiment with the latest advancements in large-scale language modeling, including prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, evaluation, and performance monitoring. Collaborating closely with product managers, backend developers, and data engineers, you will translate complex business problems into scalable, production-ready AI solutions. Your role will involve developing and maintaining robust data ingestion and retrieval pipelines that support real-time and batch AI applications, integrating external data sources such as knowledge graphs, internal databases, and third-party APIs to enhance AI context-awareness. Ensuring responsible AI deployment by implementing best practices for prompt design, model alignment, safety, and guardrails will be a key aspect of your work. You will stay abreast of emerging AI research, contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives, and participate in tech talks and proof-of-concept projects. Writing clean, well-documented, and testable code, conducting peer reviews, and engaging in engineering design discussions will be integral to your role. Additionally, you will proactively identify system bottlenecks, propose solutions to improve scalability, efficiency, and reliability, and continuously seek opportunities to enhance existing AI workflows and systems.
