The Role We're looking for a Founding AI Engineer to help design and build the next generation of AI-powered operational systems. This role sits at the intersection of AI, software engineering, and workflow design. You'll work closely with teams across the business to identify opportunities for automation, build production-grade AI systems, and create tools that improve efficiency across a wide range of operational processes. A key focus of the role will be developing AI solutions that can operate reliably within HIPAA-compliant environments and support business-critical workflows. What You'll Do Design and deploy AI-powered applications, automations, and agentic workflows. Build backend services, APIs, integrations, and internal platforms. Partner with stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities for operational improvement. Translate complex business processes into scalable software systems. Develop solutions that balance usability, reliability, security, and compliance. Continuously improve systems based on user feedback and operational outcomes. What You'll Bring Strong software engineering experience with a focus on backend systems and platform development. Expertise in TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and modern API design. Experience building and deploying AI-powered products or workflow automation systems. Understanding of security, privacy, compliance, and building systems within HIPAA-regulated environments. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate independently. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
