Founding Engineer

A high-growth AI startup in SF is looking for a Founding Engineer to help build a next-gen developer tooling platform that's changing how engineering teams ship, debug, and scale AI-powered software. You'll work across the full product, from intelligent developer interfaces and AI-assisted workflows to the backend systems and infrastructure that power it all. As an early engineer, you'll have real ownership over the product, architecture, and engineering culture, with a direct line to customers and leadership. Candidates MUST be permanent residents of the United States.** What You'll Do Build full-stack product features across the developer tooling platform, from engineer-facing UI to backend APIs Design and integrate LLM-powered features like AI code review, intelligent debugging, and automated workflow generation Develop tooling and dashboards for tracking usage, developer productivity, and product outcomes Build scalable infrastructure to support real-time developer workflows, telemetry data, and AI pipelines Work closely with customers to translate real engineering pain points into product capabilities Collaborate with leadership on product direction and technical architecture Help define best practices for AI-assisted and agentic development workflows What You Bring 2+ years of professional software engineering experience Strong full-stack skills in Python, TypeScript, and React Experience with AWS and Terraform for cloud infrastructure Comfort working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure Ability to own problems from idea to shipped product Genuine interest in how AI can improve the way engineers work and build Nice to Have Experience building LLM-powered or agentic systems Background in developer tooling, DevOps, or enterprise SaaS Startup or 0 → 1 product experience Why This Role Is Interesting Apply cutting-edge AI to a space where great tooling has an outsized impact on engineering velocity Shape the early engineering culture at a fast-moving, mission-driven startup Build at the intersection of AI, developer experience, and real-world enterprise impact Significant ownership and equity at the ground floor of something big **This role is unable to provide sponsorship, a visa transfer, or work on a C2C basis.
