Role: Python Automation Engineer Title: AVP/VP Location: NYC, US Mode of Work: 3 days/week onsite Required Experience: 8-12 years Job Overview: About the Role We are seeking a seasoned Python Automation Engineer with 8–12 years of experience to lead the design and delivery of AI-enabled automation solutions for our New York City team. This is a senior, hands-on role for an engineer who can architect scalable automation pipelines, integrate LLM/AI capabilities into production workflows, and mentor junior engineers while partnering directly with business stakeholders on high-impact initiatives. Key Responsibilities Architect, build, and own end-to-end Python-based automation platforms and pipelines that eliminate manual, repetitive business processes. Lead integration of AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini, etc.) into automation workflows for document processing, data extraction, classification, and summarization. Design and oversee RPA-style bots using Selenium, Playwright, or UiPath in combination with custom Python solutions. Drive automation of complex data ingestion, transformation, and reporting workflows (ETL/ELT) across multiple enterprise systems. Define integration strategy for REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party systems, ensuring reliability and scalability. Establish standards for error handling, logging, monitoring, and orchestration (Airflow, Celery, Cron) for production-grade automation. Act as a technical lead — set architecture direction, conduct code reviews, and mentor mid-level and junior automation engineers. Partner directly with senior business stakeholders to identify, scope, and prioritize high-value automation opportunities. Champion engineering best practices: clean and maintainable code, version control, automated testing, and CI/CD. Ensure all automation solutions meet data security, privacy, and governance requirements, particularly for sensitive or regulated data. Required Skills 8–12 years of professional software engineering experience, with deep expertise in Python (3.x) — OOP, scripting, and libraries such as pandas, requests, and BeautifulSoup. Proven, hands-on experience integrating AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, etc.) into production applications. Strong prompt engineering skills for automation and data-extraction use cases. Deep experience with automation/RPA frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, UiPath, or Automation Anywhere). Advanced experience with REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, and complex system integrations. Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Proven experience with task scheduling/orchestration tools (Airflow, Celery, Cron) in production environments. Solid command of Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines. Demonstrated ability to build resilient, production-grade scripts with robust exception handling and logging. Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers, and owning technical decisions on automation initiatives. Good to Have Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), particularly their AI/ML services. Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS) for RAG-based automation. Hands-on experience with Docker/containerization for deployment. Experience in BFSI/financial services automation or other regulated industries. Working knowledge of ML concepts — classification, NLP, OCR. Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a track record of driving projects independently. Excellent stakeholder management — able to translate business needs into technical solutions. Strong communication, documentation, and mentoring skills.
