About the Role

DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS JOB IF YOU ARE NOT LOCAL TO OUR WHITE PLAINS OFFICE, THIS IS AN IN PERSON JOB! Base Salary: $100,000–$120,000, depending on experience We are looking for a highly capable Senior AI Automation Engineer to help design, build, deploy, and improve automation and AI-driven systems across our organization. This is a hands-on technical role for someone with a strong background in workflow automation, software development, APIs, business systems, and agentic AI . You will work directly with leadership and operational teams to understand how work is performed today, identify where technology can create leverage, design the solution architecture, and then bring that solution into production. We are not looking for someone who only recommends tools. We are looking for someone who can take an idea or operational problem and turn it into a working system. What You Will Do You will be responsible for building and improving automation across multiple areas of the business. Your work will include: Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation and AI. Break complex workflows into triggers, actions, decision points, exceptions, and approval steps. Design and build end-to-end automations using n8n , APIs, webhooks, databases, AI models, and custom code. Build workflows that connect CRM systems, email, documents, communications platforms, project-management tools, and other business applications. Design and deploy AI agents and agentic workflows that can retrieve information, reason through tasks, use tools, and interact with business systems. Develop AI-powered document, email, image, and data-processing workflows. Build internal AI copilots and operational assistants. Implement RAG-based knowledge systems, semantic search, embeddings, and vector databases where appropriate. Create automated classification, routing, extraction, summarization, and data-entry workflows. Integrate new automation into existing business systems without unnecessarily replacing platforms that already work. Prototype new solutions quickly, test them with real users, refine them, and move successful prototypes into production. Debug and maintain existing automations and integrations. Build logging, monitoring, retry logic, error handling, and human approval into production workflows. Document systems and workflows so they are maintainable and understandable. Train and support users during deployment. Monitor adoption and improve solutions when employees are not using them effectively. Research emerging AI tools, agent platforms, open-source projects, and automation technologies and recommend where they can provide real business value. n8n & Automation Architecture Strong experience with n8n is highly preferred. We are looking for someone who understands n8n as an orchestration platform—not simply as a way to connect two applications. You should be comfortable working with: Webhooks REST APIs OAuth JSON Conditional logic Sub-workflows Scheduled workflows Event-driven workflows Database connections Data transformation Error handling Retry logic API rate limits Credential management Human approval steps AI model integrations Logging and monitoring Experience with platforms such as Make, Zapier, Power Automate, Workato, or similar automation tools is also valuable. AI & Agent Architecture You should have a strong practical understanding of modern AI systems. Relevant experience includes: Large Language Models Agentic AI AI agents with tool use Multi-step agent workflows RAG Embeddings Semantic search Vector databases Prompt and context engineering Structured outputs Function calling / tool calling AI document extraction Knowledge bases Human-in-the-loop workflows Model evaluation AI guardrails Open-source and commercial AI models Computer-use and autonomous-agent platforms Experience with emerging environments such as Grokbot or comparable autonomous/computer-use agent systems is a plus. More important than knowing any single platform is understanding how to determine when AI should be used, when traditional automation is better, and how the two should work together. Software Engineering Background This is not a pure no-code role. You should have a legitimate coding or software engineering background and be comfortable working directly with code when necessary. Relevant skills may include: Python JavaScript / TypeScript SQL REST APIs Webhooks Databases Authentication and OAuth Git / source control Backend services Cloud services Data transformation API integrations Event-driven systems You do not need to build every system from scratch. You do need enough technical depth to understand how systems work underneath the automation layer, troubleshoot problems, and recognize when custom development is required. Business Systems Experience You should be comfortable working across common business platforms and understanding how data and workflows move between them. Experience with some of the following is valuable: Salesforce HubSpot Industry-specific CRM platforms ClickUp Monday.com Microsoft 365 Microsoft Teams Slack QuickBooks or other financial platforms Document-management platforms Marketing and communications platforms SaaS applications and third-party integrations A strong candidate understands that the technical solution must fit the actual business process. Implementation & Adoption A solution is not successful simply because it works technically. You will be expected to: Work directly with the people performing the process today. Understand the real workflow, including exceptions and workarounds. Prototype quickly. Test with users. Incorporate feedback. Deploy the solution. Document it. Train users where necessary. Monitor adoption. Identify why a workflow is or is not being used. Continue improving the system after launch. We care about business adoption and measurable improvement , not just successful demos. What Success Looks Like Within your first year, we expect you to: Build a reliable automation environment. Deploy multiple high-value n8n workflows into production. Connect previously isolated business systems. Deploy useful AI agents into real operational workflows. Significantly reduce repetitive manual work. Improve the speed and consistency of operational handoffs. Build AI-powered document and data-processing systems. Establish monitoring and documentation standards. Create reusable automation components rather than one-off workflows. Help establish a prioritized roadmap for future automation. Demonstrate measurable adoption of the systems you build. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has a combination of: Strong automation engineering experience Real coding experience Deep API and integration knowledge n8n expertise Experience building AI-powered workflows Experience with agentic AI Business-systems integration experience Strong process-mapping skills Ability to work independently Ability to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical people Strong bias toward execution You may currently be working as a: Senior AI Engineer AI Automation Engineer Automation Engineer AI Solutions Engineer Solutions Architect Integration Engineer Agentic AI Engineer Software Engineer Automation Architect Your current title matters less than the systems you have actually built. This Role Is Not a Fit If Your experience is primarily: IT support Desktop administration Basic Zapier workflows Prompt engineering without software-development experience AI research without production implementation Project management without hands-on technical capability Strategy consulting without responsibility for implementation We want someone who has personally built, integrated, debugged, deployed, and improved real systems. Who You Are You are: Highly technical Curious Fast-moving Practical Resourceful Comfortable learning new platforms quickly Willing to experiment Able to work through ambiguity Focused on solving the business problem rather than showing off technology Comfortable taking ownership from concept through deployment You should enjoy looking at a complicated manual process and thinking: “There has to be a better way to do this.” Then building it. Compensation Base Salary: $100,000–$120,000, depending on experience Additional compensation may include: Performance-based incentives Advancement opportunities as the automation function grows Benefits 401(k) Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Paid time off Flexible schedule Why This Role Matters We believe AI and automation will materially change how companies operate over the next several years. We are not looking for someone to experiment around the edges. We want someone who can repeatedly take: Business problem → process map → technical architecture → automation → AI → deployment → adoption → measurable improvement. If that sounds like the kind of work you want to own, we want to speak with you. Show more Show less
