About the Opportunity: The Senior AI / ML Engineer (LLMs) leads the development and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions supporting the organization’s medical synthesis product. This role owns technical and architectural decisions across the AI/ML lifecycle, from concept and development through production deployment and optimization. The position plays a key role in improving the accuracy, robustness, and business impact of AI-driven claims processing capabilities. Responsibilities: • Lead AI/ML projects end-to-end, including ideation, architecture, development, deployment, and optimization. • Make architectural and technical decisions that balance scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability, and business impact. • Design and deploy AI-powered features for processing complex medical documents and summarization workflows. • Develop hybrid machine learning solutions combining statistical models, large language models, and retrieval-augmented generation. • Write clean, efficient, maintainable code and optimize existing AI/ML systems. • Collaborate with data labelers and subject matter experts to evaluate and improve model performance. • Partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and iteratively develop solutions. • Provide technical leadership and establish best practices for AI/ML development and implementation. • Break down complex technical and business problems into actionable solutions. • Apply emerging AI/ML research and techniques to reliable production systems. • Evaluate AI model outputs and continuously improve system quality and performance. Requirements: • 5–8+ years of professional Python development experience using modern software engineering practices. • At least 1 year of experience developing and deploying products based on large language models. • Proven experience leading technical projects from concept through production. • Experience making architectural decisions for AI/ML systems with consideration for scalability, reliability, and maintainability. • Hands-on experience with statistical machine learning, LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and vector search. • Experience building and integrating API services within microservice architectures. • Strong ability to evaluate AI model outputs and align technical performance with business outcomes. • Expertise in prompt engineering and fine-tuning LLMs for domain-specific applications. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. Pay Range and Compensation Package: • Base salary range of $200,000–$235,000 annually, with flexibility based on experience. • Eligibility for an annual bonus plan. • Company equity in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs).
