About the Role

Where other platforms give you a UI and a checklist, we give customers a team of AI agents working behind the scenes: writing policies, mapping documents to controls, collecting evidence across their stack, flagging what's missing, and keeping them continuously audit-ready. We call it Autonomous Compliance , and it's what sets us apart. We're a small team building fast, and we're looking for engineers who want real ownership of core systems from day one. The Role We're hiring a Backend Developer to build and scale the services and integrations our product runs on, and to help us select, configure, and grow the infrastructure - including our CI/CD pipelines - that ships it all to production. This is a backend-first role with a meaningful DevOps dimension. You'll spend most of your time writing production backend code in Go and Python, and you'll partner closely on the infrastructure decisions that keep that code fast to ship, easy to operate, and ready to scale. You'll be both a first user of our product (helping run our own compliance program) and a primary engineer on it (building the services that run everyone else's). What You'll Do In the near-to-mid term, most of your coding time will go into two areas: Continuous monitoring plugins in Go and SQL. Build and extend Go and SQL-based compliance tests against client cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, identity providers). Platform integrations in Python. Pull evidence and activity data from tools like Jira, GitHub, Okta, Notion, and more. Beyond that, you'll: Help select, configure, and scale critical infrastructure across Supabase (Postgres + Auth), AWS (Lambda, Fargate, ECR, Terraform), and Vercel as the product grows. Own and improve our CI/CD pipelines so the team can ship safely and quickly - build, test, deploy, rollback, environment promotion, and the developer experience around it. Contribute to backend services across our Python and Go codebases, and dip into the Next.js dashboard where useful, as priorities shift. Set the standards and guardrails that keep our backend services observable, cost-efficient, and reliable as we scale. What We're Looking For Strong backend engineering experience. Production code in some combination of Go, Python, SQL and Node.js/TypeScript. You don't need to be expert in all three, but you should be able to get productive in any of them quickly. Accompanying DevOps experience. You've helped select, configure, and operate production infrastructure - not as a full-time SRE, but enough to own deployment pipelines, debug environment issues, and make sound calls on tooling and architecture. Hands-on experience designing or maintaining CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or similar) is important here. Cloud and database fluency. Comfortable working with AWS (ideally Terraform, Lambda, Fargate) and Postgres in production. You can reason about cost, performance, and operational tradeoffs, not just get something running. Bias toward shipping. Small team, high ownership. You can make good decisions with incomplete information and ship production-quality code without a lot of process overhead. Nice to Have Experience building production integrations against APIs like GitHub, Jira, Okta, or similar SaaS platforms. Experience with Supabase, or with Postgres + RLS in a multi-tenant setting. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (CDK, Terraform, Pulumi) beyond the basics. Experience working with LLM SDKs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) or shipping features backed by AI agents. IT security experience, especially exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, or ISO 42001 from the operator side. Prior exposure to the compliance / GRC space, either building for it or living through an audit as the engineer on the hook. Experience with Next.js, React, or TypeScript on the frontend. Open source contributions, especially in infrastructure, backend, or developer-tooling projects. Compensation & Benefits Competitive Salary Meaningful stock options at a scaling startup. Fully remote across Canada and the US. Show more Show less
