Senior Software Engineer, Agent Workflows Compensation: $160K–$200K base + 30% bonus + equity Location: Remote, United States Travel: Approximately 25% Must be a US Citizen 🇺🇸 Company Summary: A high-growth defense technology company building AI-native software for complex government acquisition, readiness, and operational workflows. The company has significant commercial momentum and is investing heavily in AI, product, engineering, and data capabilities. The AI team is now expanding as they evolve their core assistant layer from retrieval-based interaction into a more capable agentic system. The Role We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer focused on agent workflows and automation . You’ll help build the workflow automation layer of a production AI system, enabling agents to use tools, orchestrate multi-step processes, connect into existing product workflows, and automate complex customer tasks. This is a role for someone who wants to build real agentic AI systems, not prototypes or demos. What You’ll Do Build production agent workflows for complex customer use cases Implement tool use, function calling, and orchestration patterns Help evolve an AI assistant from chat/retrieval into proactive and reactive workflow automation Connect AI agents into existing enterprise product workflows Translate ambiguous customer problems into useful agentic systems Own zero-to-one AI engineering projects from design through production Work across backend systems, LLM integrations, and product workflows Ship reliable, scalable features that expand the platform’s AI capabilities What You’ll Bring Strong software engineering fundamentals Production experience building AI/LLM applications Demonstrated use of LLMs for complex, multi-step tasks Experience with workflow automation, agents, or tool-using AI systems Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments Strong ownership mentality and startup-style bias to action Ability to reason from real customer workflows into technical product decisions US citizenship Existing security clearance or willingness and eligibility to obtain one Willingness to travel approximately 25% Tech Stack LLM orchestration Agent workflows and multi-step AI systems Tool calling / function calling Retrieval-augmented generation Applied LLM product development Backend systems for production AI Claude, OpenAI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent tools Custom agent frameworks AI automation platforms Coding agents and code generation tools Why Join?
