About the Role
Senior Software Engineer - AI Data & Agent Systems (Healthcare) Location: San Francisco Bay Area (Hybrid) Compensation: $220,000 - $240,000 Base + Equity AI in healthcare has made tremendous progress, but much of it remains focused on documentation, workflows, and cloud-based applications. We're building a different kind of platform. Our team is creating intelligent systems that unify healthcare data from multiple sources, make that data usable by AI agents, and surface meaningful insights to end users. We're moving quickly toward a production-ready platform and are looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems across data, AI, and software systems. This is not a role for a narrow specialist. We're seeking an experienced software engineer who can operate across architecture, implementation, data systems, and AI-enabled applications while remaining deeply hands-on. The right person will be equally comfortable building production software, evaluating technical decisions, and owning major portions of a product roadmap. Most importantly, we're looking for builders. Engineers who are writing code, solving problems, and shipping systems today. Preferred Technical Background Agentic AI & Production AI Systems | Experience building and deploying production-quality AI agents as a core responsibility of your role. This includes agent orchestration, retrieval workflows, evaluation frameworks, observability, guardrails, traceability, explainability, and lifecycle management in production environments. Data Architecture & Retrieval Systems | Designing systems that organize, retrieve, and present data for AI applications. Experience creating architectures that allow AI systems and agents to reliably consume complex datasets. Data Ingestion & Integration | Building and maintaining data pipelines that bring together multiple structured and unstructured data sources while ensuring reliability, scalability, and architectural consistency. Healthcare, Wearable & Time-Series Data | Experience working with healthcare-related data, wearable technology, sensor data, patient-generated data, clinical records, laboratory data, or other regulated datasets. Particularly valuable are engineers who have worked across multiple healthcare data types rather than a single domain. Distributed Systems & Platform Engineering | Experience building scalable backend systems, APIs, orchestration frameworks, and production infrastructure that support complex software and AI applications. Software Product Development | A history of delivering production-quality software while owning significant technical initiatives from concept through deployment. Additional Qualifications Strong software engineering fundamentals and systems thinking Experience building, owning, and operating production software systems Demonstrated history of shipping production AI capabilities beyond research, experimentation, or side projects Experience evaluating technical tradeoffs while remaining highly involved in implementation Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments Strong sense of ownership and accountability Experience working effectively with limited infrastructure, process, or organizational support Evidence of direct individual contribution rather than primarily management, coordination, or architectural oversight Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements Candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area are strongly preferred and should be willing to work a hybrid schedule Who Will Thrive Here Successful candidates are builders first. They are currently spending the majority of their time designing, building, coding, debugging, and shipping software. They enjoy solving broad technical problems, can quickly understand new domains, and are comfortable taking ownership of large areas of responsibility. They do not require large teams or mature infrastructure to be successful. They understand how data flows through systems, how AI applications consume that data, and how to translate complex technical challenges into working software. This role is best suited for a hands-on software engineer currently building production AI applications, agentic systems, and complex data platforms, rather than professionals focused primarily on architecture, management, or research. Why Join Opportunity to build foundational technology during a critical stage of company growth Significant ownership and impact across the product and technical roadmap Work alongside an experienced technical and domain leadership team Competitive compensation, meaningful equity participation, and full benefits Chance to help shape systems that sit at the intersection of healthcare, AI, and software engineering Compensation & Benefits $220,000 - $240,000 base salary, DOE Early-stage equity Full health benefits 401(k) Additional Job Application Terms This job is part of LinkedIn's Full-Service Hiring beta program. Eligibility is limited to candidates performing services in the United States, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, South Carolina, and West Virginia. We're committed to making the hiring process smooth and timely. We understand waiting to hear back can add to the anticipation. If you're a potential fit, our team will reach out within two weeks to progress to the next stage. If you don't hear from us, we encourage you to explore other opportunities with our team in the future and wish you the very best in your job search. Show more Show less
