Software Engineer – AI / ML & Autonomous Systems Comrise is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to design and build production-grade AI applications, AI agents, and conversational systems for a leading-edge mobility and autonomous technology program! In this role, you’ll develop AI-powered products supporting complex task execution, decision-making, and customer interactions. You’ll evaluate and integrate Large Language Models (LLMs), build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable AI solutions. 💰 Compensation & Key Details Pay Rate: $102.73 per hour (W2) Work Environment: 100% Onsite (5 days/week in San Diego, CA 92128) Employment Type: Full-time Contract (Usually 30+ hours/week through September 2026) Location: San Diego, CA (13500 Evening Creek Dr N) 🔥 What You’ll Do AI Systems & Agents: Design and develop production-grade AI agents and autonomous systems capable of complex task execution and decision-making. Conversational AI: Build conversational AI solutions, including chatbots and voice-based customer service systems. RAG Architectures: Design and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems using vector databases, embeddings, retrieval strategies, and prompt engineering. Model Implementations: Implement and optimize machine learning models using PyTorch . LLM Evaluation: Evaluate, select, and deploy LLMs based on application needs—balancing model accuracy, latency, cost, and user experience. Production Engineering: Architect, deploy, and maintain production-grade AI solutions focused on reliability, scalability, performance, and security. 📌 Qualifications & Key Requirements Experience: 6+ years of professional software engineering experience. Python Mastery: 6+ years of strong proficiency in Python for AI/ML development. Machine Learning Frameworks: 6+ years of hands-on experience with PyTorch . AI & RAG Systems: Solid understanding of AI agents, RAG components (vector databases, embeddings, retrieval strategies, prompt engineering), and transformer neural network architectures. LLM Providers: Familiarity with major LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, etc.) and understanding performance/cost/latency trade-offs. Application Integration: Experience integrating AI capabilities directly into production applications, platforms, and services. ✨ Bonus Qualifications: Proficiency in Kotlin programming or full-stack web technologies. Experience with cloud software development (AWS, GCP, Azure) and microservices architecture. Hands-on experience with REST APIs, gRPC, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.
