About the Role
Position Overview Arch Systems is seeking an experienced Solutions / Agentic AI Architect to lead the design and development of innovative AI-enabled solutions for Federal Government customers. This role combines deep technical expertise in Agentic AI, Generative AI, cloud, data, application modernization, and enterprise architecture with strong customer-facing, solutioning, and business development capabilities. The Solutions / Agentic AI Architect will work closely with Federal customers, technical teams, program leadership, capture teams, and strategic partners to understand mission challenges and translate them into secure, scalable, and practical technology solutions. The ideal candidate should be comfortable moving from executive-level discussions and whiteboarding sessions to detailed architecture, prototyping, demonstrations, and proposal development. A key focus of the role will be designing AI agents and multi-agent systems that can reason, plan, retrieve information, interact with tools and enterprise systems, execute multi-step workflows, and operate with appropriate security, governance, and human oversight. Key ResponsibilitiesAgentic AI & Generative AI Architecture Design and architect Agentic AI, Generative AI, and intelligent automation solutions for complex Federal mission and business use cases. Develop single-agent and multi-agent architectures that support: Reasoning and planning Task decomposition Tool and function calling API interaction Workflow execution Memory and context management Agent-to-agent coordination Human-in-the-loop approvals Exception handling and escalation Design AI agents capable of securely interacting with enterprise systems, databases, document repositories, APIs, workflow platforms, and business applications. Develop architectures leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, knowledge graphs, and enterprise search . Evaluate commercial, open-source, and government-approved AI models and platforms based on mission requirements, security, scalability, performance, and cost. Develop strategies for prompt engineering, context engineering, model selection, model routing, grounding, model evaluation, and AI guardrails. Establish approaches to reduce hallucinations, unauthorized actions, data leakage, and other risks associated with autonomous and semi-autonomous AI systems. Solution Architecture Lead the development of end-to-end technical solutions addressing complex Federal mission, business, and operational challenges. Translate customer requirements and problem statements into: Solution architectures Technical roadmaps CONOPS Architecture diagrams Implementation strategies Technical demonstrations Proofs of concept Design integrated solutions spanning: Agentic AI Generative AI Machine Learning Data and Analytics Cloud Computing Enterprise Architecture Application Modernization DevSecOps APIs and Systems Integration Intelligent Automation Cybersecurity Develop conceptual, logical, and physical architectures that clearly communicate how technologies, applications, data, and users interact. Evaluate technical alternatives and make recommendations based on security, scalability, interoperability, cost, performance, maintainability, and implementation risk. Establish reusable architecture patterns and technical standards that can be applied across multiple customer environments and Federal opportunities. Data & Knowledge Architecture Design modern data architectures that support AI, analytics, enterprise search, knowledge management, and mission applications. Architect solutions utilizing: Data lakes Data warehouses Lakehouses Vector databases Graph databases Knowledge graphs APIs ETL/ELT pipelines Enterprise search Develop architectures that allow AI agents to securely retrieve, reason over, and take action based on structured and unstructured enterprise data. Support data governance, quality, lineage, metadata management, access control, and information lifecycle management. Design AI-powered knowledge management, document intelligence, decision-support, and enterprise search solutions. Identify opportunities to improve data usability and accessibility across legacy and modern environments. Cloud & Modern Application Architecture Architect secure cloud-native and hybrid-cloud solutions using AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform . Design solutions using microservices, APIs, containers, Kubernetes, serverless technologies, event-driven architectures, and modern DevSecOps practices. Support modernization of legacy applications into scalable, modular, API-enabled, and cloud-ready solutions. Incorporate CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, monitoring, logging, and observability into proposed architectures. Design solutions appropriate for commercial cloud, government cloud, private cloud, and controlled on-premise environments. Ensure architecture decisions account for Federal security, compliance, resiliency, availability, and performance requirements. AI Security, Governance & Responsible AI Design Agentic AI solutions with appropriate controls for: Identity and access management Agent permissions Data access Tool authorization Human approvals Logging and monitoring Auditability Privacy Security Incorporate Zero Trust, least privilege, human oversight, explainability, transparency, and traceability into AI architectures. Develop methods for testing AI agents for accuracy, reliability, security, performance, and unintended behaviors. Define appropriate boundaries between autonomous AI actions and actions requiring human approval. Support development of AI governance frameworks, standards, and operating procedures. Ensure AI solutions align with applicable Federal cybersecurity, privacy, accessibility, records management, and AI governance requirements. Federal Customer Engagement Engage directly with Federal CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, program executives, technical leaders, and mission stakeholders. Lead discovery sessions, technical workshops, solutioning sessions, architecture reviews, and whiteboarding discussions. Identify opportunities where AI, automation, cloud, and data technologies can improve mission outcomes, operational efficiency, customer experience, and decision-making. Translate complex technical concepts into clear mission and business value. Develop and present executive-level technical briefings, roadmaps, architecture concepts, and solution recommendations. Serve as a trusted technical advisor during early-stage customer discussions and technology evaluations. Prototyping, Demonstrations & Innovation Rapidly translate customer challenges into AI prototypes, proofs of concept, pilots, and demonstrations . Work closely with developers, engineers, data scientists, and UX teams to bring solution concepts to life. Develop demonstrations showing how AI agents can support or automate complex Federal workflows. Evaluate emerging AI technologies and determine their applicability to government environments. Develop reusable: AI agents Multi-agent frameworks Reference architectures Solution accelerators Connectors RAG frameworks Knowledge bases Demonstration environments Support the transition of successful prototypes into secure, scalable, production-ready solutions. Stay current on emerging Agentic AI, Generative AI, cloud, data, and automation technologies. Technical Leadership Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, developers, data scientists, architects, and technical project teams. Conduct architecture reviews, technical design reviews, and solution assessments. Establish architecture standards, reusable patterns, and technical best practices. Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation strategies. Collaborate with program managers to ensure proposed solutions can be delivered within schedule, staffing, and budget constraints. Help shape Arch's broader AI, cloud, data, and emerging technology strategy. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field . 10+ years of relevant technical experience in solution architecture, software engineering, AI/ML, cloud, data, or enterprise architecture. Demonstrated experience designing complex enterprise technology solutions. Strong knowledge of Agentic AI and Generative AI architectures . Experience designing or implementing: AI agents Multi-agent systems Agent orchestration LLM-based workflows Tool/function calling RAG architectures AI workflow automation Strong understanding of LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, knowledge graphs, enterprise search, and context engineering. Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise APIs, databases, SaaS platforms, and business applications. Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud. Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, containers, DevSecOps, and modern application architectures. Ability to create high-quality technical architecture diagrams, presentations, and solution documentation. Strong customer-facing, written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both executive and deeply technical audiences. Ability to take ambiguous customer problems and develop practical, executable technology solutions. Preferred Experience Federal Government consulting or delivery experience. Experience supporting Federal CIO, CTO, CDO, or enterprise architecture organizations. Experience developing technical solutions for Federal capture and proposal efforts. Experience supporting customer demonstrations, oral presentations, and technical solution briefings. Experience with Federal cloud, cybersecurity, AI governance, and ATO environments.
