Job Title: Forward Deployed AI Engineer Location: Broward Health – Fort Lauderdale, FL (Hybrid/Onsite Preferred) Work Type: Contract long-term, multi-year engagement or convert permanent Start Date: ASAP Job Overview Broward Health is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams. This individual will work directly with operational, clinical, and administrative leaders to understand business processes, gather requirements, identify opportunities for AI-driven automation, and design solutions that improve efficiency and patient outcomes. This role combines consulting, solution architecture, and hands-on AI engineering. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with both executives and technical teams while building and deploying AI-powered solutions, including Generative AI applications, AI agents, and workflow automation platforms. Key Responsibilities Business Discovery & Requirements Gathering Meet with business, clinical, and operational stakeholders to understand workflows and challenges. Facilitate discovery sessions and gather requirements for AI initiatives. Analyze current processes and identify automation opportunities. Translate business requirements into technical AI solutions and implementation plans. Present AI recommendations and solution roadmaps to leadership teams. AI Solution Design & Development Design and implement enterprise AI solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs). Build Generative AI applications that improve productivity and operational efficiency. Develop AI agents and agentic workflows that automate business processes. Create Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions utilizing enterprise knowledge bases and vector databases. Design APIs and integrations connecting AI solutions to enterprise systems. Agentic AI & Workflow Automation Build and deploy autonomous and semi-autonomous AI agents. Design multi-agent orchestration workflows. Develop prompt engineering and context management strategies. Implement evaluation frameworks to monitor accuracy, latency, and performance. Establish AI guardrails and responsible AI practices. Enterprise AI Strategy Partner with engineering, infrastructure, security, and data teams. Contribute to Broward Health's long-term AI roadmap. Support AI governance, security, and compliance initiatives. Drive AI adoption and organizational change management efforts. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, consulting, or related technical roles. Experience gathering business requirements and working directly with stakeholders. Experience designing and implementing enterprise technology solutions. Hands-on experience with AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI solutions. Strong programming experience with Python. Experience with: Large Language Models (LLMs) Prompt Engineering Agentic AI RAG Architectures Vector Databases APIs and Enterprise Integrations Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Healthcare industry experience. Experience working with Epic or other EHR platforms. Understanding of HIPAA, PHI, and healthcare regulatory requirements. Experience with: LangChain LlamaIndex Semantic Kernel CrewAI AutoGen Microsoft Copilot Studio Experience supporting AI governance and responsible AI initiatives.
