Forward Deployed Engineer

About the Role
Forward Deployed Engineer - AI Delivery | Remote US/Canada | $136K–$216K base + bonus + rev share I'm placing exclusively for one of the most interesting AI delivery businesses operating right now. They're an AWS Premier Partner and Anthropic's first pure-play delivery partner - meaning when Anthropic needs someone to implement Claude in a Fortune 500 environment, this is the company that gets the call. They're generating roughly one new enterprise Anthropic lead per day and don't have enough people to take them all. That's the problem they're hiring to solve. Three Forward Deployed Engineer seats. Urgent. Three-month fill target. What you'll actually do This is not an advisory role. There's no delivery team to hand off to. You are the delivery team. You own the full client engagement end-to-end, with no manager above you in the field: Discovery: stakeholder interviews from engineers to C-suite. Translate ambiguous business problems into defined, deliverable AI programmes. Start pulling on threads before the requirements are fully written. Architecture: design production AI systems or enablement programmes tailored to the client's environment, stack, and risk tolerance. Build: ship working solutions inside the client's own infrastructure. Production code, not demos. Close: transfer durable, documented, maintainable capability to the client team. Identify expansion opportunities and hand them back into the commercial relationship. You'll carry two to four accounts at a time. You'll deal with ambiguity daily. You'll earn trust fast or lose the account. The upside is that comp scales with the accounts you grow - this is a sell-do model, and the rev share is real. Two profiles in scope Archetype 1 - Tech/SDLC FDE Software engineers who have crossed into client-facing delivery. You've built production AI systems and now you're the person clients call when they want to transform how their engineering organisation works. You build agentic coding workflows, implement AI-assisted SDLC tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex), and run technical enablement programmes that change how engineering teams ship software. Archetype 2 - Operational/Applied AI FDE (stronger fit for most roles) Consulting or enterprise SaaS implementation background combined with hands-on AI delivery capability. You've run workforce transformation programmes, facilitated workshops with non-technical business audiences, and embedded inside enterprise clients to build and enable AI solutions that change how people work - not just how systems run. You're as comfortable leading a design sprint with operations directors as you are reviewing an architecture diagram with a principal engineer. Both archetypes need genuine client-facing delivery ownership. The key question: have you personally owned a client engagement from kick-off through close, built something inside their environment, and handed over something that works when you leave? If the honest answer is no, this probably isn't the right fit. Tech stack AWS Bedrock · Anthropic Claude · Claude Code · RAG pipelines · AI agents · MCP servers · LangChain/LangSmith · Python · Kubernetes · n8n · Power Automate · Zapier You don't need to have used every tool. You do need to be proficient with AI-assisted development tooling and comfortable picking up new parts of the stack as client engagements demand it. What they need to see 4-10 years of experience, with meaningful time in consulting, professional services, or client-embedded delivery Hands-on LLM and agentic AI development shipped to production - RAG pipelines, agent frameworks, Bedrock or Claude API integrations A track record of expanding client accounts through delivery quality, not just execution Demonstrated ability to run client workshops, design sessions, and enablement programmes Clear examples of communicating precisely with engineering teams and confidently with VP and C-suite stakeholders in the same engagement High ambiguity tolerance - you start building before all the requirements are written Up to 50% customer travel Based in the US or Canada, working US business hours No visa sponsorship available Hard stops that won't work Pure internal or product engineering with no client delivery history. Required fully-scoped requirements before starting work. Consecutive job stints under a year. Anyone based outside US or Canada (no visa sponsorship possible). Compensation Base $136,000–$216,000 depending on experience Performance bonus 15% Revenue share on account expansion - comp genuinely grows with the accounts you own OTE up to $270,000 401(k) with 4% match, immediate vest Unlimited PTO Phantom equity L&D stipend Fully remote US/Canada How to apply Message me here or email tom@wearehorizon.ai . Tell me about the most complex AI or technical project you've delivered inside a client's environment - what you owned end-to-end, what you built, and what the business outcome was. One paragraph is enough. That's the filter. HorizonAI Talent — See Further. Hire Better. Show more Show less
